Hypnotherapy is a skilled communication aimed at directing a person’s imagination in a way that helps bring forth changes in some perceptions, sensations, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
In a typical hypnotherapy session the hypnotherapist and client will discuss the intended alterations or therapeutic goals desired. The hypnotherapist will ask questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle to decide on the best approach for the individual.
During hypnosis the client gains a deep sense of relaxation through a passive state of mind, or trance, this promotes better communication between the conscious and the subconscious mind. The positive suggestions made to the client by the therapist will reprogram patterns of behaviour and overcome negative thoughts and emotions.
By reaching the subconscious mind, as it is more deep rooted than your conscious mind, negative fears, behaviour and emotions can be altered. This is because the subconscious mind is where your self-preservation instincts lie, the fight or flight response. This response is the subconscious minds way of keeping you safe.
